Biography
Lucia Ziccardi holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of Molise, Campobasso, Italy, for teaching Diseases of the Visual System (MEDS-17/A ex 06/F2-MED30) at the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences “V. Tiberio” and at the Ophthalmology Residency Program.
She also works as an affiliated senior staff scientist at Clinical and Research Center of Neurophthalmology, Genetic and Rare Diseases – IRCCS Fondazione “G.B Bietti”, Britannico Hospital, Rome, Italy. Prof. Ziccardi has been a certified ophthalmologist since 2006, and her main fields of expertise are: Inherited Retinal Dystrophies, Inherited Optic Neuropathies, Neurophthalmology, Glaucoma, Neuroprotection, Paediatric Ophthalmology.
Prof. Ziccardi is a clinical-scientific researcher and principal investigator involved in several pre-clinical and clinical studies related to gene therapy, with a primary focus on X-linked retinoschisis and X-linked retinitis pigmentosa.
